For the longest time I thought that if you got kissed under a mistletoe then would become pregnant. I stayed away from mistletoe for a long time!

I used to believe that I wouldn't get pregnant if I went to bed with a man as long as I had knickers on-this stopped the sperm even though it had managed run across the bed from him to me!

this conversation happened between me and my mate when we were 7:
MATE: Do you know why in English movies (these also referred to American and Europeans) when they have sex, woman always on top?
ME: No, why?
MATE: To prevent pregnancy. She will get pregnant if she's under.

He is lucky caused when i realized that's wrong after learning about protection stuffs in science class, he already moved to another state. If not I will kick his ass.

I thought that if you laid beside someone you loved ("slept with them") then you could get pregnant. Their love vibes would somehow float over and impregnate you.

when i was 6 my mum gave me a bok about babies and all i remember from it is sperm with top-hats on and bow ties and i used to think they were tadpoles. so i thought that if a woman wanted to get pregnant we would have to sit in a pond where there were tadpoles and one would swim right up there and she would get pregnant.

I used to believe that god would at some point make you pregnant, but he would tell you to get married first, and if you didn't get married when he told you to he would make you pregnant to let everyone know you didn't listen and that's why it was bad to be pregnant if you weren't married. Also that you could hold off being pregnant by praying a lot and being really holy, which is why grandmothers and nuns didn't get pregnant. Grandmothers were sort of pickled in holiness, so they never got pregnant, but sometimes nuns would pretend to be praying and they'd really be thinking about television, so after a few warnings god would make them pregnant to let everyone know they were slacking off on the praying which is why it was a huge bad thing if a nun got pregnant.

When I was about 4 my mam told me that babies were made of 'eggs and sperm', so I thought if girls ate eggs they would get pregnant!

In my first sex ed class they taught us about ejaculation but didn't explain the specifics. Until I got old enough and started "experimenting", I thought that the man had to pee in the girl to get her pregnant.

When I first asked about the Facts of Life, my mother told me something evasive about how they had really wanted a baby and so they got one. So for a while I thought that you could only have a baby if you were married, and that what you had to do was pray a lot and if you wanted one enough God would make you pregnant. Ah, the idealism of youth.

I thought that in order to become pregnant, a woman HAD to be married. It just wouldn't work otherwise, There was once supper table gossip in our house about a teenager being pregnant and I was adamant. "But she can't be pregnant! She's not married!"
This was 1967.

I used to believe that pregnancy was entirely spontaneous, and didn't realise that men had anything to do with it.

I thought that women just got pregnant without men having anything to do with it. I believed this until I was about 12. I told a friend that my friends sister was pregnant, she asked me who the father was, and I said "oh there isn't one, she's not married"... that didn't do much for my street cred!!

After quizzing my mum about babies in tummies, I used to think that eggs and sperm got together in the toilet as that was the only place that mummy and daddy's 'bits' ever shared.

My science teacher told me that when you reach puberty, the stuff that makes a woman pregnant begins to appear in your *urine*. I was forced to draw the conclusion that a man had to pee inside the woman to make her pregnant!
