When I was in the fourth grade or so a friend and I were in a very serious discussion about how a baby was born. It was very confusing since we knew the baby grew in the mothers stomach and came out between her legs. We concluded that the baby had to pass through her entire small and large intenstine and that was why labours were so long and painful. But there was also the matter of the baby being digested while being born. I then realized that the baby grew in the mothers womb and that was what protected it from being hurt from stomach acid and what not!
My little brother used to believe that if a baby was born in canada it would be white, if it was born in africa it would be black, etc...
I used to think that you had to physically hold the baby in with your muscles. So, when you are holding your pee, then you get to the toilet, you have to let go right? Well, I couldn't figure out how they managed to go to the bathroom without dropping the baby in.
Also, my mother had a miscarriage before me, and I pondered whether this was what had happened
when i was 5 my great great grandma dident want me the truth about sex and giving birth so she said that babies fly through an open window in the hospital and to my mum LOL!!!!!
(my mum told me the truth soon after)
When I was about 5, I believed that women gave birth to girls, and men gave birth to boys. I am now a teenager, and relise how it all happens.
I used to watch shows such as "A Baby Story" and "Maternity Ward". My 3 year old son would catch bits and pieces every now and then. So when I got pregnant with my daughter he told me that he knew the baby would come out of my "hoo-hoo". He then proceeded to tell me that I shouldn't worry when it fell off because they would sew it back on! LOL
I used to firmly believe that a woman gave birth to a baby through her bellybutton- there was a drawstring on the inside and it could be opened and closed when necessary. I was afraid to wash around it- afraid I would unravel. When I found out the truth- this idea still seemed better to me.
I used to think that when you were pregnant you pressed your bellybutton and the baby came out.
I don't know why, but I used to believe that babies were one year old when they were born o_O.
i used to believe this till I got proper education that babies come out of the mother by operating on her stomach.I also asked her once that"mom aren't there any stitch marks on your belly" &she burst out laughing.
I used to believe that pregnant women could sit down on the toilet and accidentally give birth, and it scared me because the baby would likely drown in the water, but also because if it happened to me, I wouldn't want to have to reach into the poopy water for my baby.
I used to believe that giving birth was much easier than it apparently is. Like, I recall joking with a friend when I was about five that if his mom had pushed too hard when she was on the toilet that he would have popped out.
I knew babies grew inside the mother, but not how they were born. I thought the mother had a door on her back that opened up, like the battery compartment some of my talking dolls had. The baby would just fall out.
When I have told this as an adult, every mother who has heard it has said something like, "if only."
I used to think that to give birth, a woman had a slit cut into her inner thigh, and the baby would come out.
I used to think when I was about 5 that when you gave birth the baby would come out of your tiny pee hole and not your actual vagina. I was so scared of having a baby that I literally considered becoming a nun when I was only 5.
when I was very young I thought there was no such things as baby's. and that god would build us then just drop us through a hole in the clouds, equipped with a parachute. and we floated down to earth as you were. young...old, what ever.
I used to think that babies came out of the butt
I used to believe babies were 9 months old when they were born
When I was really, really little I used to think that when a woman got pregnant she waited until the baby was ready and then pressed her bellybutton and the baby would pop out!
For the longest time, I didn't know about labor. I just thought women decided they were ready for the baby to be born, went to the hospital, laid down, and POP! If only it was that easy!
