When I was 10, or so, I used to think when you got your period, you never stopped bleeding until you got old. I was dreading the day I would get mine, because I could never swim again!
This isn't about myself, but I know these girls are going to be in shock pretty soon.
I was in the girl's washroom in 8th grade and as I was leaving these 7th grade girls pointed into a stall and said to me "EWW! There's a tampon in there!" I looked in and there was the paper that you peel off the sticky side of a pad.
I guess the sex ed we took that year really failed them! They are in for a suprise once they see what they really are.
My friend's ittle sister once walked in on her while she was changing a tampon(their bathroom lock doesn't work) and my friend gave her "the talk." A bit later, they were outside and their neighbor-a boy-was acroos the street playing basketball. Her little sister looked at my friend and said "Do you think he has it too?" And she meant a period.
About the same time that I was starting to have my periods, my sister was into a singing group called "The New Christy Minstrels". I thought their name was "The New Christie Menstruals" and they were named in honor of my first periods! Later when I learned the word "minstrel" and what it meant, I realized that the groups name had nothing to do with menstruation.
I thought that a period was a serious illness and that when you had it no one except the "guy, Nocoligist" (yes Nocholigist being his name, nd guy always refering to him), could be in the same room as. So when I found out the when I was around 10-13 i was going to start getting my period every month I thought I had some disease that caused me to to get this serious illness every month. Then I realized this happened to all females and wondered who was replacing my mom during hers...i had a lot of figuring out to do.
I used to believe that once a girl started getting her period, she would get it everyday for the rest of her life.
i used to belive that the reason girls wear pads when they get older is cause they cant control thier bladder and wet themselves....i figured out the truth of that one as i turned 13
I used to think tampons were crayons.
Scary.
I used to believe that when a woman got her period, she had it every day and when it happened to me i would have to steal pads because it would be very expensive
When I was little I thought that sanitary napkins were very clean napkins that one used for special occasion meals.
When I first got my period, I didn't know how to use a tampon. I thought that you just had to squeeze it and it would just shoot up inside you. I wasted ALOT of my friends tampons trying to work that out.
When I was little, I used to think that tampons were for cleaning out the toilet
I believed that periods were one-time spurts of blood. After I got mine and saw that I was still bleeding later, I assumed I must have hurt myself somehow and didn't tell my mom.
(I wish they only lasted for that one second...)
I had never been told about periods. So when i started I had no idea what it was, and I was scared.. I was putting
toilet paper in my underpants.. after a couple days it was from a darkish color to a redish. Once I realized it was
blood I thought I was bleeding to death. I was scared and
didnt want to tell my mom I was going to die! Well after a few days it was worse and I didnt FEEL sick... so I told
her there was blood in my pants.. she shoved me in the
bathroom with a sanitary pad and a sanitart belt (showing my age here) I had no idea what they were
or for.... but I figured it out.. and I didnt know all girls did this, it was never explained to me. I was only 12.. I guess in a few years I learned. It still makes me shake my head.
i used to believe that women wore bras because their periods happened in their boobies.
when my little brother was younger he tried to tell me how girls got their periods. He told me that a girl gets her period when a guys "gets horny at her" and she knows. lol...then he tried to tell me that he knows that from expeince. you can imagine how confused i was when he told me that last part
My kid sister (when she was 4) used to believe that sanitary towels were nappies... and well... she saw the towels one day in a cupboard in the bathroom and well... wore the towels for about a month before my mother found out... and told her they were for big girls and mommies... I still mock her for it to this day.
when i was little, i would walk into the bathroom on my mom and when she was done, sometimes, i would see this weird red stuff...my mom said it was the coloring from the beets she ate for dinner...now i know
that u unrolled tampons and placed them in ur underwaer
When i was little.. about 5 or 6 i used to believe that the blood in the toilet was my mom having nosebleed's.
