top belief!

For some reason, I thought if you were arrested by the police, they were protecting you from something, like, if you were being robbed, they'd arrest you. I'd hear on the news about there'd been some protest and twelve arrests, and think "good, those twelve people will be alright then". Not sure how that happened.

When I read the news about crime and saw the word "rap sheet," I thought that "rap sheet" is where you compose songs on it to make rap music.

When I was about five, I was bored, and I decided to rip the tag off a mattress. "DO NOT REMOVE UNDER THE PENALTY OF LAW." I was afraid that the police would get me for at least 2 weeks!

I didnt rip the tag off! Honestly!

I used to belive, when I was little, that police used to just shoot people. They shouted "Freeze!", then fired.

When I was little, I overheard a policeman on a TV show say, "You're under arrest". I thought that meant that the person being arrested was about to go to sleep (rest).

I used to want to be a police woman. Why, you ask? Perhaps to fight crime, and make the world a better place for all my bunny friends?

Actually, I just wanted to "undress" bad guys, because I misunderstood the phrase, "You're under arrest!"

Say it quickly and you'll see the confusion right there.

Up until I was about 7...my mother always told us to NEVER stand up in the car, cuz a cop would pull us over...I thought that they had some sort of x-ray goggles (explains constant sunglasses) that they could see through cars and see if you were standing up...so I ALWAYS made sure I never stood up in the car......

When I was little, I thought that policemen had special trackers that could tell if you had your seatbelt on! I always wore it because I was afraid I'd get arrested!

i used to believe that you had to be very talented to be a police officer because you would just know if a person wasn't wearing his seatbelt, like a 6th sence.

When out with my parents, we passed the Sheriff Court (grew up in Scotland), thought the Sheriff carried a gun and shot people

I am from Canada. When I was about 6 years old and in the first grade I was apparently pretty gullible. I broke a boy in my class's "skin coloured" crayon and he told me that if I didn't give him my "skin coloured" crayon to replace his that he would tell his Dad and his Dad would send me to "kid jail" in the United States. I totally believed him and was terrified. However, I really did't want to give him my crayon, so I finally burst into tears and told my Mom and she clarified things for me!!

i used to believe my cousins - anything they said. they loved to mess with me.

they made me really angry one time and i told my grandfather that he should call the police on them because they stole my something-or-other.

he picked up the phone, dialed (pretended to, at least) and started talking like he was talking to the cops.

when he hung up, i started freaking out because i didn't want my cousin to go to jail.

I used to believe my older siblings when they told me that if I was bad the policeman would come and get me and put me in jail. When I was five we moved into our new house and I fell asleep in a bedroom closet. No one could find me later, and a policeman was called. you can imagine how freaked-out I was to be rudely awoken by a policeman pulling me out of the closet by my ankle! My mom gave my older siblings quite a lecture when I flew into hysterics at the sight of the poleceman and had to explain as a young child that I was a good girl, and I did not want to go to jail. I still have a healthy respect for a uniform, any uniform!
