Guerrilla fighters are really gorillas
This section contains beliefs all on a common theme: Guerrilla fighters are really gorillas. Show most recent or highest rated first or go back to wars.I was convinced that Gorilla soldiers in Vietnam in the 70's were real Gorillas attacking other Soldiers.
I was a kid during Vietnam and kept hearing about a guerilla war. I had no idea what a guerilla was, and a rough idea of war from tuig-of-war, and the card game War.
Then Planet of the Apes came out. I was petrified.
When young, I used to listen to the news which I thought was boring. I didn't understand some of it especially when the news-reader frequently told us that another army group had been attacked by Gorillas. I imagined actual gorillas (Apes) attacking and could not understand where they all came from. Quite scary.
When I was young we would hear about the Gorillas fighting in South America against the armies on the radio and I always picture in my head armies of gorillas with helmets and guns fighting armies of people.
I used to think guerillas were gorillas,so when i heard of a an attack by gorillas imagined lots of angry gorillas terrorizing people
I used to think guerilla fighters in Africa meant chimps and gorillas with rifles storming the cities. i was terrified of monkeys at the zoo for years.
I used to believe that the Guerrilla fighters in Rhodesia in the 1970’s where real Gorillas. I became very confused when the pictures shown on the TV News always showed black men with guns jumping out of trucks and not Gorillas.
I think I must have watched the “Planet of the Apes” too much on TV.
I used to think that the Nicaraguans had trained gorillas to fight for them since it was always on the news about "guerilla warfare". It was the mid 80's and I was 10 or so. I had nightmares about killer gorillas for months.
When I used to hear about guerillas fighting in the jungle in nicaragua on CNN I always wondered why the gorillas were fighting people.
As a child when I heard newsreaders talking about geurillas fighting I thought they meant gorillas (zoo type)and always wondered where they got the guns from.

I grew up in the '60's during the Vietnam War.
I can remember hearing television new stories about the "gorilla warfare" going on and could just imagine the sight of actual gorillas jumping out of trees onto the soldiers!
I remeber hearing on the news when I was a child that Tamil Guerrilas had attcked the Indian army. I was amazed that Apes had finally declared war on Humans ( I think I might have recently watched planet of the apes)
I thought that when newsreaders spoke of 'guerilla fighters', that they were referring to actual gorillas on the rampage ;o)
I used to believe that when guerillas were mentioned on the news they were talking about real gorillas - with guns and everything!
I used to believe that when I heard
of geurilla warfare that the the factions involved actually sent gorillas
out to do the fighting for them
During radio and news broadcasts, I'd hear of "guerilla's moving in from the north", etc. I used to think they were actual gorilla's moving in a group and getting closer to Illinois (where I was from).
From a TV news program about freedom fighters, I though that `Gorrillas` could use guns.
That "guerilla warfare" involved real Gorillas.
