I used to think my aunts friend Willa Mae must be the sister of Willie Mays
When I was 10 I got a baseball glove for my birthday and proceeded to demonstrate my version of a 'change-up'--a ridiculously slow wind-up followed by a sudden, last-second quick release! When friends came over my mom would call me over and say, 'Show them your "change-up"!'

After watching Tiswas or Multi-Coloured Swap Shop of a Saturday morning - sandwiched into the sofa, waiting for mother to drag us all out shopping - there was the boring television that followed.
A particularly disturbing episode of "It's the Wolf" was usually followed by an unending weather forecast, with sloppily-sticking magnetic pads.
Then it was time for Grandstand - the then grand but now somewhat delapitaded afternoon sports fest.
Raised in Epsom, at the foot of the hill that led up to the racecourse of Derby fame, I knew that the big tiered building at the end of the course straight after Tattenham Corner was called "The Grandstand".

One day while watching a Denver Broncos football game with my step mom (who is a huge Broncos fan) she finally erupted at the announcers who she thought was calling their punter by his last name -Aknor. When I was at school, my teacher told me that Rugby Union was more demanding than Rugby League. How embarrassing to play my first Rugby League game and find out - the painful way - that I wasn't as strong, as skilful or as talented as I thought I was, Ouch!
when i was really young, my dad took me to a New York Knicks game. They were doing really bad, and everyone was silent. then the screen that said "make some noise" came up. I was cheering my head off, thinking that I was making the bar raise my myself (i looked liked an idiot around everyone else). It took me about3 years to realize that the screen went the meter went up on its own
When i was 5 year old i used to watch cricket with my father. He used to say that bowler was thrashed all around the park by batsman and i always felt bad for the poor bowlers and imagined them injured, being taken to hospital from ground. It was not until 3-4 years later that according to dad bowler went for many runs!!! I often laugh on me being soooo silly
(The same person from the RB = root beer belief) I used to believe that the RB position in football had something to do with me, due to RB being my first and middle initials, but it was actually running back.
I USE TO BELIEVE THAT GOLF N STUF WAS DISNEYLAND
When I was a kid, I used to believe that 'bicycle goal' was when a player did goal with the bicycle.
Growing up my dad was a big Denver Broncos fan. He called john elway "uncle John". So I spent most of my younger years thinking that John Elway was my uncle.

I used to think that Michael Jordan and Montell Jordan were brothers. I used to think that Montell also played basketball just like his “brother.”
