I believed my dad had this strange control over the windshield wipers. Often when it would rain, he would snap his fingers at the exact moment when the wipers would go across the windshield. I could never figure out how he did it. Come to think of it, I still can't.

i used to think that the cruise control on a car was actually consisting of two little computerized eyes in the front end of the car which directed the car to stay on the road and controlled its speed as well.

I was thoroughly convinced that I controlled all stop lights and stop signs from the back seat of my Dad's Gremlin. If the light turned red, all I had to do was repeat, "green, green, green, green!" with all of my might and the light would change. For stop signs, I had to push really hard on the plastic things that held the seatbelts, with my feet. That was the only way the car could start moving again. If I wasn't in the car, and a stop sign came up, my Dad would have to get out, sit in the back seat and push on my "pedals". Then the car would work.

My Brother (then about 7 years old) thought that the beeps heard at Level Crossings were there to tell blind drivers when to stop!

When I was younger I used to believe that FIAT cars were actually FLAT cars. I was really confused that they weren't flat.

I used to believe that cat's eyes worked by way of two tiny oil lamps. They were fuelled by collecting oil from the road dropped by leaky cars.

I used to think blind people could drive cars, that there was some sort of adaptive device they used. I don't know why I thought this, I guess since they could walk around with canes or dogs that there must be something similar that let them drive cars!

I used to believe that new cars always went faster than old cars, and was made up one day when our old car overtook a flashy new car!

Due to an explanation I once heard my mother give, for many years I thought that after any car crash, the two cars' bumpers stayed glued to each other and they should be taken away from the scene of the accident as one.

i used to believe that it was against the law to look out the window at drivers or passengers in other cars on the road

I always wondered what was going on when we drove over gravel in our car (too short to see out the window). One day I asked while my uncle was in the car and he said all the bugs that were in the car were being dumped out. For years I would never stick my hands down in the seat cracks for fear of the creepy crawlies that lived in the car!

I used to believe that the purpose of a car's engine was to turn the "propeller" that's in front of the radiator. After all, they make planes move, don't they? I'm sad to say my understanding of cars today is not much better.

My cousin and I used to beleive that this red button in my aunts car would make it fly (she told us that)...To this day I still don;t know what that damn button was for.

My family and I would go on road trips every year. My parents would always tell me to wear my seatbelt but what did I care nothing bad was really going to happen if I wasn't wearing it. I told this to my sister and she told me that the little man on the seatbelt safety light would come kill me if I didn't wear it. Apparently, mom and dad neglected to tell me that bit. I never forgot to buckle up after that.

I used to believe that my dad kept a mini cooper in the boot of his volvo, because one night when he came home in a mini rather than his normal volvo he explained he kept it there and in an breakdown situation took it out and "pumped it up" as a spare car!

I once believed that cars would not move, only the streets and ground. I believed with all land transprtation apart from bikes, ect. Apparently, my mother believed the same thing when she was a child.

When I was younger I always thought that all the cars on the left side of the road all had white lights only and all the cars on the right had red lights only. I was soo confused when I found out that our car had white lights too!

When I was about 5 or 6 my dad told me that late at night when everyone was asleep all of the cars that were parked outside started up by themselves and hung out together. I would try to stay awake to see it, but he told me that they would know if I was awake or not and if I was they wouldn't hang out together.

Whenever we'd go on a long car ride at night it would confuse me as to why all the cars going in the same direction as us had red lights, and the ones going the opposite direction had white lights. I spent a long time trying to figure out why... then I decided that you must have to drive on a different road depending on what color lights your car has.

When I was little, I was very naive to things such as cars and stuff like that so, one day as me and my mom were driving, I noticed that there was a peddle that my mom never used and asked her what it was, she, the funny woman she is thought that it would be funny to tell me that it was a 3rd gas peddle and that when she got the car up to top speed, she would push that peddle in and the car would go faster, I'm sorry to say that I found out the truth when I was 23 and my husband had to inform me that it was not a 3rd gas peddle, but the cluch, I still feel stupid!
