I used to believe that when you pressed the red button on the dash board, the car would blow up, i later realised it was the button that activated the hazard lights.

When I was little, I believed that the music that came from the car radio was being played by a person under the engine playing a record player. I always wondered when we started the car why this person couldn't start the music up right where we had last left off.

I used to believe that car windscreens knew when it was raining and they were getting wet; and so the windscreens turned the wipers on and off, and regulated the speed of them automatically. Didn't occur to me that the driver had anything to do with that part.

I think I was a bit ahead of my time.

when i was younger i used to believe that the 'slippery when wet' sign on the side of the road meant that when you drove there your tires would fall off and the strings that held them on would hang out. until i was 13 i was terrified to go past one of those signs.

I used to think there were invisible people so I was always looking for cars moving with no one sitting in the front seat!

When I was younger and I was traveling in the car I liked to stick my hand out of the window and feel the air push on it. My father told me that if I did that then a man on a motorbike would ride past and chop my hand off with an axe. And I haven't done it since.

When I was little I had no idea how power windows worked. Until the time I was 7 I belived my mother was magic because she would say a magic word and ::poof:: her window would go down!

When I was little we had a big Buick Riviera with power seats. My dad told me that if I put my feet under the seat when he moved it, my feet would turn into hamburger. I kept my feet out of there!

I used to believe the freeway had hours it was open and closed, just like stores did. Whenever we were on the freeway I would wonder who was the first person to get on the freeway that morning.

I used to get very distraught at the thought of all the underground tunnels there must be for thousands of cats, that poked their head up for all those catseyes that appear in the middle of the road

I used to think if u left a car started in park, that it would drive away on its own and kill people..I would scream at my mom if she left the ignition on and I'd cry.

I used to believe that all cars had the year of manufacture on them somewhere that was visible to anyone outside the car. I'd be with someone (always a guy) who would say something like.... "check out the '73 mustang". I thought the only way they could know what year the car was made was that it was "printed" somewhere on the back end of the car!

When I was little ( 4-5) I believed that when you drove down a road the cars were connected by an invisible string. Then when the car infront or behind you turned the string was broken and it attached to the next car in line.

I used to believe that the arrows in ur car telling u which way to fo ACTUALLY told u which way to go. Like me and my mom got lost going to a baby shower so i kept telling her "follow the arrows" i just oculdnt understand how someone could be sooo stupid to get lost when they had the arrows.

We used to have a stick shift car when i was little, and i always thought that when my mom changed gears she was telling the car directions on how to get where we were going. Whenever she changed gears, she would change her mind because of traffic, or just because she changed her mind. my mom was a very indecisive person when i was little. 0=D

i used to think the little triangle that was missed by the windshield wipers was so that the person driving could tell what the weather was outside...it NEVER occured to me that you could see through the rest of the window. 0=D

i used to believe that to make a car go forward you pushed your foot down on the pedal and to reverse, you pulled it up with your foot.

Before we've bought fiat uno in 1999, we had had old 1982's trabant, the famous "plactic car", with body made from old clothes (!), sand, glue and something else (really!) Once my dad had car accident and driving our traband hit the tree, and the part of body had been just torn off till he replaced it with new. As I noticed car in garage with no part of body, I started believing that car's body always is being broken for pieces when car hits something!
