When I was a kid I used to be afraid of the transformers on electricity poles as I thought they would jump off the pole onto the car as we drove past it.

I used to think the car's blinker had to be on for it to be able to turn. O_O;

I believed that the rotation of cars tires caused the earth's rotation, that really people in cars stayed pretty still and the tires moved the earth beneath them toward their destination.

When taking trips we used to tell our daughter her job was to watch for falling rocks. Her father and I had her doing this until she turned at least 11.

When I was young, my family moved alot due to my father's work. We racked up alot of miles on the Interstates along the East Coast. We'd move from north to south and back again...it took forever, it seemed neverending. I was afraid that eventually we'd never be able to stop, just keep going and going, up and down hills, the sun always following us. Even though as I grew up, I knew that this was silly, I still, to this day, have nightmares about it.

Living on the coast we went to the beach a lot growing up. On the way we passed through many bridges and we always were told to "hold or breath." I always heard "hold your breast." It took a while for me to catch on..

My family and I use to travel alot when I was young. I thought that when we were driving somewhere and there was a lot of cars comming toward us on the road that they were driving away from a monster and we were heading right for it!

I used to believe that the inspection stickers on cars indicated the cost of the car, ie, a 12 meant $12 etc.

I used to believe that if a car or lorry went past you while you were stood on the dropped kerb part of the pavement you would get electricuted. I still occasionally rush to the higher pavement. I'm 25.

I lived in a very small town until I was 10. There was only one transport company that delivered there. It was called the Dickie Trucking Company.

Until we moved, I believed that all semi-trucks (lorries) were called "Dickie" Trucks.

When we were driving on a particularly hilly road, my mom told me that, when I got to driving, I should be careful because when you switch the car into neutral, the brakes don't work.

A grade-school friend tried to convince me that the chassis of a car was called the "fuel sladge" and it was what made a car go fast. I knew better. I already knew it was the gas pedal!

As well as the old exhaust pushing the car thing, I used to believe that front wheel drive meant the front wheels turned, rear wheel drive the rear wheels would turn and four wheel drive meant all four wheels would turn. Valuable years of my life were wasted, that I shall never get back, trying to figure out how this worked.

I used to believe that the road moved and everything else was stationary. Driving: Reverse would makethe road mve, turing would cause the road to turn and braking would cause the road to stop. I was very confused on how this worked when I walked places.

I used to believe that there was a little man who lived under the hood of the car. My dad told me he was who made the windshield wipers work, the lights go on, etc.
