I believed when going in the car that it was on a big scalextric track and the earth moved underneath us and we stayed still
When I was young, my mother told me that the sounds the crosswalks made told the blind people when it was alright to go. For the longest time, I wondered what the heck blind people were doing driving!
When I was small, my sister and I would ride in the car a lot. We were both always trying to figure out who was at the front of the freeway. My sister decided that all freeways led to Washington DC and that the President was at the front.
one day me and my cousin were talking about what we used to believe and she told me this funny story:
When she was little, she thought that convertibles were just regular cars that were broken, but people used anyway. you could imagine how weird it must have been when so many people drove and wanted these cars.
i thought that if you rolled up the windows on a hot day the heat would stay out and the car would cool without the air conditioner
My grandfather told me that pulling on the lumbar hook in the car would blow it up. I believed that for a really, really long time.
My mom used to tell us kids that if you put your arm out of the car window, that it would fall off.
i used to think that the moon would follow you in the car, also that it looked like a half moon.
i used to believe that drinking and driving was when you were drinking while driving
I usw=ed to (still do!) believe that you should take your coat off when getting into a car on a cold day, so that you can feel the benefit of it when you get out. The same goes for entering houses or shops.
As a child (In UK), I believed that all cars had to drive on the left, except cars that were coming the other way. Of course Police cars and Ambulances were allowed to drive down the middle of the road.
i used to beleive that a traffic jam was wen cars got stuck in jam!
I used to believe my dad when he told me in order to hear each other speak in the car our voices had to travel out to the electical wires that lined the highways. Because we drove so fast this was the only way for voices could keep up.
I used to believe that when people talked about 4x4 trucks, I thought it meant all the wheels turned.
I used to believe that the headrests in cars were made out of ET's head.
when i was younger and for years i used have to run up to somthing before a car would pass. but if the car passed me on the road before i could get to , say a lamp post. somthing bad would happen. i couldnt go asny where without having to do this. it ruined my life
My babysitter told me that I had to sit in a car seat so the police could see me. If I was down too low, they couldn't see me if the drove by or we got in an accident. I believed that for the longest time! When I was older, and finally got to sit normally in the car, I asked my mother, "Am i really tall enough for the police to see me?" She was very confused until I told her what my babysitter had said. then she explained the real reason for car seats. I was so embarassed!
When i was little my dad told me little blue people worked inside of peoples cars. and that is how they worked. i believed it up until i saw the inside of a car.
i used to believe that air bags were huge inflatable bags of air that would blow up around you if you thought something would be dangerous on the road, and if you were too small you would suffocate!
When you're driving on the highway there is this part of the road on the very side that if you drive over it it makes a loud noise to tell the driver that they went over too far. My dad told me it was so that when truckers (or people who'd been driving for a long time) fell asleep It'd make them wake up and start driving again. I thought this until I was 11.
