I was told by some neighbor's kids that there was a hole under the driver's seat of my dad's truck and in the hole there was a huge floating fire and then if you went through the fire you would fall onto the road and die instantly. I started crying when they stuffed my teddy bear under the seat and I tried to save him but was afraid to die. Luckily, my dad found out a couple hours later and told me they were kidding.
When I was younger and I was in the car going through tunnels, I believed that the brake lights reflecting on the walls were aliens and the windows had to be kept shut so that the aliens couldn't get in.

I used to think that if I sit behind the driver in a car, I wouldnt be able to see anything and the door would fly open and I would fall out of the car and get run over by cars coming the opposite way!
I have no idea where this stems from, but ive believed that for as long as I can remember. I still cant sit behind a driver, I refuse to get in the car, but when im driving myself its ok ... as im in control of the car so nothing bad will happen to me. Go figure.
My mom used to tell me that if I stuck my hand out the car window, my hand would get chopped off.
When I was about 6 I asked my mom what side of the road we were driving on. She said the right side and I thought that everyone in the world had their own side of the road to drive on!! Like a few people would drive on the right side and some would have to drive on the left side!!
I have a friend who loves to see just how gullible I am. Once when he and I were out, we were driving his truck. We stopped for something and when we returned he tried to start the truck, to no avail. He ask me to get behind the wheel and try it while he got under the hood and was doing something. Well I tried and it would not start. Well then he ask me to come out and put my finger on top of the battery, explaining that we have so much electricity in our bodies that sometimes that can make a motor start.
Now I have seen electricity during storms and so this made sense to me. So I went out and did as he told me to do. He got behind the wheel, and the motor started for him. He did not tell me any different until we were driving down the road and I told him I thought we needed to go home and get my car, just in case his battery acted up again.
He could not contain himself, he burst out laughing. And it was not until then that he explained that he had an electrical "chip" that he had pulled out when I tried the motor and he put it in when he started it.
Don't worry I got even with him. But that is another story.
I used to believe that my dad car would levitate when you got into it

I used to think that a tow truck was a "toe truck" and that it was shaped like a foot.
I used to believe that you could drive when you were eleven...Now I'm 13 and know better!
I used to think that when we went somewhere in a car, the car would actually stay still and the earth would move until our destination came to us.
the car didnt move, the road did.
