i used to believe that the way traffic lights changed colour was by a little man living inside the traffic lights. every time the colour changed i thought he had moved, i.e if the lights were red he was standing inside the red light, if the lights were green he was standing inside the green light.

For some strange reason when I was little, I believed that monkeys sat in traffic lights to change them for traffic. I guess that came from being A Flintstones fan!!!

When I was a child I thought that stop lights had little devils inside of them that changed the signals from green to yellow to red and back.

The little devil used levers to change the lights. He looked like the little devil on the Underwood Deviled Ham labels.

When I was three; I firmly believed that elves lived inside the red lights, and that they had some sort of messaging system that told them to hold up a red/green/yellow ball up to the hold. It was a greatly amusing thing to think about at the age of three.
