When I was a little kid, I thought that traffic lights were controlled by toucans (like Toucan Sam from Froot Loops). I thought that there was a toucan in each and every traffic light and that there was a candle set behind each color of the lights; red, yellow and green. So, the toucan would light the appropriate candle and blow out the other candle when the time came.

And those flashing lights... Or when a traffic light was broken and just the red light or just the yellow light would be flashing... Well, I thought that was because an evil Keebler Elf had made his way into the traffic light and was repeatedly blowing out the toucan's candles.

I used to believe that there was a little person inside each of the traffic lights. They had three buttons, and would push one to change the light.

I use to believe hamsters controlled traffic lights. They had to run on a wheel all day to make the lights change at different times. I believed that for a while then I got smarter and "knew" that it was a guy in an office with a bunch of remotes that had red and green on them. He didn't need a yellow one because when he pushed red, obviously, it would turn yellow for a little while before it was red.

i used to believe that for every street light there was a dwarf man underneath swiching it on and off. I had this vision of him sat in a swivel chair with computer screens all round him (very technical business) haha. And when his shift had finished the whole light and his work space would lift out of the ground and he would just step on to the street. Also for some reason i always imagined them with metal lunch boxes.

When I was smaller than I am now, I used to think that traffic lights were operated by very small people, who live inside them. They could see when no cars were approaching and the green man would allow me to cross the road.

My dad used to tell me that midgets lived in the traffic lights, and that if we didn't pay homage to them they'd get cranky and cause accidents. People always did think I was a bit of a retard when I started praying and bowing to the lights...

When I was little I use to think that the reason why stoplights changed colors were because there were little tiny men in the poles and they would run back and forth flipping switches from red to green so the people could go
